A Feminine Master Retreat

The best complement a decorator can receive is a repeat customer. So when Heather came to me after I completed her son's playroom, and asked me to take a stab at her master bedroom, I couldn't say no. The one thing Heather wanted her bedroom to be was "peaceful." She wanted a place to retreat and truly unwind. This was my inspiration in creating this positively dreamy master bedroom.

We started with her wall color, Peignoir by Farrow&Ball. This color is amazing. Kind of a grayish pink, it's soft, hazy color changes throughout the day depending on the light. We loved that it said "This is a woman's bedroom," without screaming it. For everything else, we kept a black and white pallet, to keep things crisp, clean, and not overly girly.
BEFORE

AFTER

Heather has these great vaulted ceilings in her bedroom, so to accentuate that, we raised her curtain rods as high as they could go, added some black and white framed photos of her with her son on either side of her bed, and swapped out her short nightstands and lamps for ones that better fit the scale of the space. These nightstands also gave her extra storage which was a plus because we got rid of a tall cabinet where her new mirror currently hangs.

Heather wasn't quite ready to get rid of this chair beside her bed, as it is the favorite seat of her dog, Parker. So instead we found this great slipcover on Etsy to give it a fresh look, as well as her new pink pouf from Dwell Studio, a favorite piece of mine in the room.

We picked out this succulent print from Artfully Walls, a great site full of beautiful prints that frames your prints and actually lets you see what your piece will look like on your wall. It's a great tool to use if you are looking to do a gallery wall in your home.

One of my favorite things we did in Heather's bedroom was actually in her closet. We added wallpaper to her ceiling- specifically this Tempaper Self-Adhesive Removable Wallpaper from Target. The color went perfectly with the paint color in her room. We also added a sparkly chandelier to add some glamour to the space. Picking out clothes can suddenly become so fun if you give a little love and attention to a room you might never think twice about.

We shot these photos on a rainy day, and let me tell you, it took all our willpower not to jump in this cozy bed and take a nap. I hope Heather loves her new room, and finds it relaxing and rejuvenating for years to come.
