This June marks the 5th anniversary of me and Dave getting married. How the heck have we been married for 5 years already?? We decided we wanted to get away for a few days this year and spend some quality time together since many years, our anniversary seems to come and go without much pomp and circumstance. We tossed around several destinations including Naples, Florida (where we were married) but money-wise, that just wasn't in the cards for us this year. We eventually landed on Peddler's Village by New Hope, Pennsylvania. We had never been there before, it didn't require a flight to get there, and we heard it was a cute place to visit with lots of character.
The great thing about Dave and I not being teachers anymore is our schedules are freed up to literally take a vacation whenever we want. We were away from Wednesday to Friday and it was so nice to come home and have the weekend just getting underway.

Peddler's Village was super cute. It reminded me of a much bigger Smithville, NJ, with all the cute shops with catchy and clever names. The main reason we decided to go away in February instead of on our actual anniversary was the rooms in the hotel had fireplaces in each one! I just dreamed of it being freezing outside, maybe snowing, and we could be warm inside by the fireplace. Little did I know it would be 71 degrees in February this year!!! 71 degrees! Anyway, we quickly got over the no-snow when we were able to walk around the shops in t-shirts (well, a sweatshirt for me- I'm always freezing).

This was the landing at the top of the steps where the guest rooms were located. The one element this place had down was pattern! Every wall had wallpaper, every window had custom drapes, and each piece of furniture had a coordinating print. It was a step back-in-time but you couldn't deny the charm of this place.

Inside the rooms, the charm continued with a huge four-poster bed, fireplace and mantel, and a great wallpaper covering in the bathroom.

Due to the incredibly warm weather, Dave and I were able to take an impromptu hike in Tyler State Park, just a few minutes down the road from Peddler's Village. It was so nice to get some fresh air (not to mention enjoy a completely free activity), but I was bummed when we saw horse rides touring the trails as we walked. That would have been too cool.

My adventurous husband climbing some fallen trees. He also taught me how to skip rocks- which I had never done before!

Clearly the outdoorsman with my coffee in hand and mint green skinnies as I hike...

All in all, it was a great few days away. You could probably do Peddler's Village in a day trip- but everyone needs some escape time now and again. The restaurants were super cute and quaint, and the food was delicious. Peddler's Village has a lot of festivals and activities throughout the year as well if you ever do plan on visiting. We felt like we had the place to ourselves in the middle of the week in the middle of February, but I bet it gets super crowded during its festivals or around Christmas. We're definitely always looking for new places to explore so if you have any cute towns in mind, leave them in the comments section! We'd love to check them out!
