An All American Playroom

I had the pleasure of designing this fun and cozy playroom for a sweet little man named Jack. His mom wanted a cool place for Jack to go and hang out, play with his trains, color, and be his crazy little self. As we started talking about color for the room, she really loved the "all American" look, so I worked with that in a way to keep this tiny room still looking clean, crisp, and uncluttered (not the easiest task for a three-year old's playroom).

We had the room painted "Super White" by Benjamin Moore, which helped to make the room feel bigger. We took off the bi-fold doors from this closet, which was huge in giving us more space for Jack to play. We painted the inside of the closet a pale blue to create a little nook and define the space. We put a play table from Land of Nod in there and added some fun storage bins, a shelf for crayons and colored pencils, and a star art cable to display Jack's artwork and school projects.

On the opposite side of the room, I created a place for Jack to grab a favorite book to read in his tent, create new recipes in a manly navy blue kitchen set, and easily access his trains, legos, and stuffed animals in these toy bins, also from Land of Nod.

This kid LOVES trains. I found some cute train prints on Etsy, and I think they're the perfect touch above his toy bins. The showstopper of this playroom however, is this awesomely fun and cozy tent. I piled in lots of fluffy pillows and the softest blanket known to man. I just think about this place being somewhere Jack can go to read his books or lay down and plan out his next adventure. Who knows, it might end up being a place where mom can go, close the flaps, and have some peace and quiet of her own!

I had a great time working on this room for Jack. His mama is also one of the best decision makers and easiest to work with clients ever! Thank you for letting me loose in here. I hope Jack feels like this room represents who he is and enjoys it for a long time to come.
